10 of my Most Frequently Asked Questions

How do you keep my photos safe?

In multiple ways! My cameras have what’s called a “dual card slot”, meaning I can use 2 memory cards at the same time. When I’m taking your photos, it’s putting the same photos on both cards at the same time. So if one card fails, they’ll still be safe on the 2nd card. Then when I get home, I immediately upload all the photos to my 1st hard drive, then copy everything to another hard drive. After I deliver your final photos, all your photos remain not only in your gallery, but also in one of my “past weddings and sessions” hard drives as well.

What’s your shooting style?

I’m a strong believer that wedding photographers need to be good at shooting more than one style of photography. With every wedding, I incorporate many different elements of photography including photojournalism, fine art, architectural, landscape, editorial, macro, flash, and creative flash. My editing style is more focused on true to life color with a pop of vibrancy while maintaining accurate yet warm skin tones.

How long does it take to get our photos?

My turnaround time for full gallery delivery is about 6 weeks for wedding photos. During busy season [August through November], it may take up to 8 weeks, but no longer than that. You can expect to receive about 50-100 photos per hour of coverage.

Why do you only offer 10 hours?

I offer 10 hours of coverage because it strikes the perfect balance for capturing your special day in a relaxed and thorough way. Weddings can sometimes run a bit behind schedule, and having 10 hours allows for those unexpected timeline hiccups without any added stress. It also ensures that I can capture those beautiful moments after the sun goes down, like night shots, which are often some of my client’s favorite photos. Ultimately, 10 hours of coverage provides a well-rounded final gallery that represents the heart and soul of your wedding day from start to finish.

Do you have insurance?

I definitely do! My policy covers all sorts of things and exceeds the standard most wedding venues require. If your venue requires proof of insurance, just let me know and I’ll be happy to send it over.

What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding?

In the event I’m suddenly unable to be there for your wedding due to an emergency, I have a large network of highly talented photographers I can contact who would be able to take my place as an associate shooter.

What do you bring with you for a wedding?

2 cameras [I shoot with Sony mirrorless cameras], an assortment of lenses, 18 memory cards, 3 strobe lights, walkie talkies, diffusers, grids, a softbox, colored gels, fractals, 4 light stands, a flashlight, batteries, a trigger, and various other items for special effects.

Do you do extensive retouching?

I do! I will happily edit out acne, whiten teeth a bit, remove hairs that fly in front of your face, and can also do more intricate work such as editing out items or people in the background, edit transition lens glasses if they become too dark, and soften tan lines as well as many other things that require Photoshop. All of this is included with your package and does not cost extra. However, adding or removing people from formal photos may cost an additional fee depending on various factors.

Do you help with wedding planning?

I do! Right after booking, I’ll send you a link to my wedding guideline. You’ll find lots of useful information on how to build your timeline, recommended wedding vendors, as well as some wedding day “dos and don’ts”. I also have an engagement session guide to help you plan what to wear, what to expect and more.

What’s a “Same Day Edits Slideshow”?

During dinner, my 2nd shooter and I will go through all the photos we’ve taken so far throughout the day and pick around 50-100 favorites. One of us will sit and do a light edit on those photos while the other continues photography coverage for speeches, dances, etc. Once the photos are edited, we put them in a slideshow, then set up my projector and screen. Once everything is ready to go, we work with the DJ to make an announcement for everyone to gather around and see some of the photos we took that day. It’s a fun add-on and works as a same day sneak peek to your gallery, plus you get to be there to hear and see all your friends and family’s reactions to your beautiful wedding day moments, which is truly a special experience.
