Taber Lacie Hespe - Mom, Wife, Photographer and EMT
In short, I’m Taber. An on location photographer dedicated to giving an incredible experience as you embark on the most exciting journey of your life and more. Weddings, your baby’s first smiles, your growing family, your teenager whos about to start their own journey in college - these moments all seem to happen in the blink of an eye, but when you have photos of all these beautiful times in your life the memories live on for generations. That is why I feel it is so important to find a photographer who can deliver you a stunning portfolio of moments and emotion captured in time, which reflect your individual personalities and how those manifest in your lifetime. Each person and family is unique, and I aim to tailor my products and services to bring out the essence of your love for each other and your families.
My name is Taber [pronounced tay-bur] and I'm a 29 year old owner to a photography company, a mom to four boys and a step-mom to a girl and another boy! Outside of photography, I’m an EMT-B supervisor and FTO for Bell Ambulance in Milwaukee. My life is almost always busy busy busy [if you couldn't tell by that short description! and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. Life is a beautiful thing and I don’t want to waste a moment of it.
My passion for photography started when I was just a little tyke. Some of my first photos are from when I was around 5 or 6 years old when my mom gave me my first disposable camera. I was addicted with the first click. My cameras progressed from disposables and film cameras, to a Polaroid, and soon to digital. When I was in middle school, I'd take pictures of all my classmates CONSTANTLY, to the point my teachers had to tell me to put my camera away. A lot of candids and even a few posed photos from time to time. Seeing as this was before the days of social media, I had created a special website where I'd post all the photos for everyone to see. I loved seeing people smiling and laughing when they looked at their photos, talking to me about how they loved their photos or laughing about how funny one of the pictures were. It's one of my favorite memories from that time.
When I was a sophomore in high school, I took a photography class and learned more about the technical side of things. We first started with film cameras, learned how to develop our own film and were given assignments to just walk around and take photos. Then we went to digital and learned more about the wonderful world of photoshop. You could say this was one of my favorite classes in high school! Towards the end of that class, I was given an opportunity to work as an assistant for a local photography company, Captured Moments Photography. Heather was awesome to work for and honestly taught me so much in the 2 years I was there, especially about weddings.
After high school ended I didn't immediately pursue my dreams of becoming a professional photographer. Life took me in other directions [as those early college days tend to do], however I was still known as the girl who took pictures all the time. After I had my first two boys, I was a stay at home mom. Although I loved being watching them grow in their early years, I wanted to start working again. My mom, as well as a few other people, suggested I get back into photography. I always loved it, and I did miss it, so I decided to save up some money and get a decent DSLR for myself. Starting out with my own business I mostly photographed my own kids, but I dove right into education as well. I read books, took classes and took as many photos as I could. Many sessions and dozens of weddings later, here I am!
Now, my journey consists of continuing my photography education, booking fabulous clients, juggling a busy life with awesome 6 kids, working a full time job, spending time with my wonderful husband, renovating our house, and somewhere around 10 million other things. Busy is my middle name, to say the least, and I love every moment of this blessed life.
