Today is the day I OFFICIALLY launched this beautiful new website!
I'm so excited to finally be sharing this with you all! I've been waiting for what feels like forever to not only get this done, but to be able to present it. It's everything I've been wanting for the last year and more. About a year to a year and a half ago, I had actually paid someone to get a custom website design and never heard from that person again. Huge bummer, but I only ended up losing $50 in the deal. I had been using a site called Blogger since I started my business, and I really didn't want to let that site go. I had built up my SEO [search engine optimization] to the point of being on page 1 of Google when searching for Milwaukee Boudoir Photographers. So the main reason this took so long is because I had been searching for a professional way to present my Blogger website, but it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.
After the disappointment of paying for a website design for my Blogger site and never getting it, I found a semi-custom design through Cinnamongirl Design. I loved the simplicity of it, the ease of navigation, how "clean" and professional it looked. In all honesty, it looked very very similar to what my site looks like now. After trying to get it all together with the designers there for several months, tragedy struck their designer, and she wouldn't be able to help design my website for an unknown amount of time.
As some of you reading this may know, I've been trying to gear up my marketing over the last few months. I designed and ordered brochures for the first time ever, got a new e-mail address, changed my phone number, and ordered new business cards. I knew that if I wanted to get the ball rolling with seriously marketing my business to the Milwaukee area, I had to get this website up and running as soon as possible. The owners of Cinnamongirl told me it could be several months until their designer was emotionally ready to go back to work, but they understood my time crunch and offered me a refund. I took it, although it was difficult for me to do so, and looked for other options.
As it turns out, Blogger is just plain difficult to find any professional looking templates for. So I reached out to some of my fellow photographers and found this wonderful site, Squarespace. I am absolutely LOVING it. It's very easy to customize, I can add tags to all my pages as well as customize SEO options. I can even add SEO to my photos! This...this is revolutionary for me folks! So as sad as I am to say goodbye to my Blogger site, I'm so happy to be taking the next step forward and advancing my business.
Keep an eye out for blog posts from me a few times a week. Once upon a time I blogged several times a week, if not every day. I'm no longer a stay at home mom, so I don't exactly have the time to do that anymore, but I do want to blog at LEAST once a week. Hopefully a smidge more than that. I promise I'll keep it entertaining!
Anyway, thanks for checking out my new website, and I hope you love it as much as I do!
Until next time,
- Taber Lacie
